Presenter Bios

Chad Bauman
Director of Print & Multimedia Communications, Americans for the Arts, Washington, DC,

Chad Bauman is the Director of Print & Multimedia Communications at Americans for the Arts.  Before coming to Americans for the Arts, Chad was the Director of Marketing & Communications with Virginia State Company, a LORT regional theatre in Norfolk, VA. While in Norfolk, he also held an appointment as an adjunct professor of theatre management at Old Dominion University. 

Prior to his trek east, Chad was in Los Angeles where he as working as an Audience Development Specialist for REDCAT in Walt Disney Concert Hall.  Prior to that, Chad served in management capacities at the Center for New Theater, LA Stage Alliance, Theatre LA, and the Santa Fe Opera as well as touring with an all female site specific production of King Lear which opened in Los Angeles and was the opener of the Frictions Festival in Dijon, France.  In 2003, he was asked to chair the publicity campaign to save the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and its funding. 

Chad has done pro-bono work for the California Arts Advocates, the California Arts Council and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.  Chad currently sits on funding panels for the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and was just appointed to a three-year term as a Helen Hayes Awards judge in Washington, DC.  In 2006, Chad presented three sessions on technology-based marketing at the National Arts Marketing Project Conference in Los Angeles, CA. 

Chad was an Ahmanson Scholar at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he received his Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Theatre Management and Producing.  In addition, Chad holds a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed) in Theatre and Speech Education summa cum laude from Honors College of Missouri State University.
