CREATIVE CONVERSATION “Dearth of Directors: What the Leadership Vacuum Means to Us” While nonprofit arts organizations struggle to keep up with a rapidly shifting economic, social, and political climate, we, the “emerging leaders,” face challenges of navigating these numerous changes in the field as well as increased opportunities to further our own careers. For a variety of reasons, the number of executive director position vacancies in our organizations is rapidly increasing. Are we ready to face this leadership crisis? What are the practical aspects of taking over a directorship and running an organization? As leaders, how do we foster an environment and lay the foundation for non-profit arts organizations to continue and thrive even after we’ve transitioned out? Conversation Leaders: Tim Cynova & Heather Ruth.
